"Amalgamate
Illusory and temporary, lacking stillness and permanence, these paintings are fleeting impressions of time. Illumination swirls within ethereal fields in a constant breeze of color. While the stirring is suspended, it is assumed in the mind that the ever changing and entwining fields cannot remain constant. The viewer is witness to a fleeting glimpse of beauty, which is distilled in color, just before fizzling away to become a memory. Temporary energy relates to the idea of things that cannot be possessed or kept, but that are beyond reality.
The amalgamations of color and swirling gyres of paint create a united whole. In some cases, the transformation becomes congruent and analogous, while at other times turbulent. Intended to mimic the sublime forces of nature, color amalgamates become a metaphor for the transcendental state of being. Variations of color gradually fade into one another, concealing any abrupt edges, as would a natural gem, and also create illusionistic depth. Pure color, atmospheric changes, and lighting effects internalized within the painting create a spiritual dialogue with the viewer.
The paintings are statement about my own understanding of time and ideas of universality and spiritualization. Although we occupy specific times in designated spaces, we are all living a transitory existence.
